College Football Gambling Guide for October 3, 2020
By Tim Birkmeyer If you read this last week and/or my picks for the Broncos-Jets on Thursday, chances are you are a little bit richer. Last week’s gambling guide took us to a 3-2-1 (blast off!) record and I am sorry I told you to bet an under. It will not happen again. If there’s one thing I learned while at South Carolina, it’s that noon games suck. No one wants their team to play in them, you can’t tailgate all day, and losing a noon game puts you in a bad mood for the rest of the day. I didn’t like to board too much in the games anyways, but it’s on me to guide you. I have failed you and will promise I’ll do better next week. However, there’s some great matchups in the SEC for the rest of the day with Texas A&M-Alabama and Auburn-Georgia. Let’s take a look at some good gambling plays I like for today in College Football: *Note/Disclaimer: I am by no means a gambling genius. Please take my picks with an air of caution and please bet responsibly.* Alabama (-17.5) vs. Texas A&M (-110) – Yes, last week I took the Alabama spread and they did not cover for one of our losses. But, that means we hop back on and keep riding. Texas A&M looked awful against Vanderbilt and it only gets tougher going up against the Crimson Tide. Nick Saban and Alabama come up big in these type of games, and I think they win by 20+ points. Oklahoma State Team Total OVER 38 Points (-115) – Oklahoma State has been and always will be a high-scoring team with Mike Gundy as coach. However, they are struggling this year averaging 21.5 PPG. How do they get out of the scoring funk? Playing Kansas in a football game. Kansas is giving up 42.5 PPG defensively so look for Chuba Hubbard to have himself a field day. Your Life is Too Short to Bet the Under Pick of the Week is Memphis and SMU OVER 75 Points (-110) – Last season, these two teams combined for 102 points in Memphis’ 54-48 win. It’s not as hyped of a matchup this season, but these teams haven’t played in a few weeks because of Covid so everyone will be itching to score. Plus, life is too short to bet the under. Auburn (+7.5) at Georgia (-115) – I think there’s too much uncertainty right now in Athens with the Quarterback situation to have me pick to cover. I do think they will win the game, but Auburn gets the cover here. This will be a close game and both teams will make plays, but the defenses will keep this game to one score. Both teams started off slow in their first games last week, but I trust Bo Nix more than UGA’s offense. Honestly, that’s pretty much all I am seeing right now that I like. Most matchups in the ACC are going to be blowouts by UNC, Virginia Tech, and Clemson. Mississippi State and LSU will take care of Arkansas and Vanderbilt, respectively, and Oklahoma should bounce back and beat Iowa State. The board looks fine, but I feel most confident with these picks. It’s a small sample, but 4-0 will be just fine for our wallets. Once again, please take my picks with some caution and please bet responsibly. But, let’s have some fun today and let’s make some money! What are some of your picks? Comment below! By Tim Birkmeyer
