Australia records zero new COVID-19 cases

Australia’s health minister Greg Hunt said on Sunday that the country has recorded no new daily coronavirus infections for the first time in nearly five months.


“Thank you to all of our amazing health & public health workers & above all else the Australian people,” Hunt tweeted.







The hardest-hit state of saw zero new daily infections and no deaths for the second consecutive day. Last week, Victoria ended most of its 111-day lockdown restrictions. The state’s premier Daniel Andrews praised the residents for following strict rules and said they were well placed for a “Covid-normal Christmas”.


There are currently less than 200 active coronavirus cases across Australia. The country has recorded some 27,500 infections and 900 coronavirus-related deaths since the pandemic started.
