171 new cases of COVID-19 in Latvia

Latvia confirmed 171 new cases of COVID-19 on November 3, according to the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC), bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 6,439.


Two deaths were also confirmed, of people aged between 70 and 90.


Of 5,235 tests carried out, 3.3% were positive, down on the 5.8% rate the previous day. A rate of more than 3% is regarded as an indication that the disease is spreading rapidly.


So far 1,444 patients have recovered from infection and 77 have died.


On November 2, the 14-day cumulative number of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 of population was 139.9 in Latvia, 293.4 in Lithuania and 68.5 in Estonia, according to data from the  European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control  .
