DevOps Engineer Career path or Cloud Engineer Career path?
I currently have two offers in front of me. One is for a Snr. Cloud Engineer role which would involve me in a core infrastructure role where I would also learn some on-prem infrastructure as well. The other role is a DevOps Engineer role where I will mostly be helping the team with DevOps principles, CI/CD, K8s, Cloud, etc.
I am a little confused as to which role I should be taking and concerned about my future career path. The Snr. Cloud Engineer would help me go down the Infrastructure & Cloud Architect and then manager path in the future. However, how about the DevOps Engineer role? To me, it looks like it would be mostly Snr. DevOps, DevOps Lead and then DevOps Manager.
Both roles are offering about the same and I am a bit more inclined towards the DevOps Engineer role as it is a better company to work for with better staff. However, I am a bit scared to take it due to the future uncertainty of DevOps as a role.
I would really appreciate your input on this dilemma. Thanks in advance :)
