Legendary Rapper MF DOOM Passed Away, Aged 49

Legendary rapper MF DOOM has died age 49, his family confirmed in a statement on Dec. 31, 2020. According to his wife, he died on Oct. 31, 2020. A cause of death was not revealed.


“The greatest husband, father, teacher, student, business partner, lover and friend I could ever ask for,” DOOM’s wife Jasmine revealed in the caption of an Instagram post depicting her late husband. “Thank you for all the things you have shown, taught and given to me, our children and our family. Thankyou for teaching me how to forgive beings and give another chance, not to be so quick to judge and write off. Thankyou for showing how not to be afraid to love and be the best person I could ever be.”

Hip Hop is coming out in droves on Twitter to express their condolences. A number of artists have paid tribute to MF Doom including Run The Jewels, Jay Electronica, Q-Tip, Thundercat and Tyler, The Creator.











MF DOOM was born in London and grew up on Long Island, New York. DOOM, who was born Daniel Dumile, began rapping in the late 1980s under the name Zev Love X in the group KMD, along with his younger brother DJ Subroc. KMD released two albums: 1991’s Mr. Hood and 1993’s Black Bastards. DJ Subroc was struck by a car and killed shortly before the release of Black Bastards, marking the end of KMD until DOOM shared a previously unreleased track, “True Lightyears,” in 2017.
