At a loss as to how to return an item that came broken
Hi all, I ordered a lamp online and the lamp shade came in the mail crushed. The lamp costs $40 and all I can do online is fill our a return slip and pay to ship it back. Shipping will cost me at least $40, and I don't feel I should have to pay to return something that arrived broken. When I call customer support, they tell me I have to talk to an online support person. When I try to contact an online support person, it tells me that they are receiving too many calls and hangs up on me. I cannot for the life of me find an email address either. The only way I can email them is by filling out a cancellation form, and there is nowhere in the form where I can potentially workaround by writing a comment to say that I want to return something that arrived broken, not cancel. I am at a total loss as to how to contact them and get them resolved. Does anyone know what I can do?
Also, there is no Ikea near me. I live in Manhattan and the nearest is in Brooklyn. The box is quite large and taking a Lyft both ways, like paying for shipping, would also cost me more than $40.
