NATCHITOCHES, La. -- Laterrance Welch played in only two games as a junior after recovering from offseason surgery on his meniscus, but it didn't take long for the Rivals250 cornerback to find his rhythm.

The nation's No. 12-ranked cornerback was fantastic in coverage for Acadiana as the Rams captured the Louisiana Class 5A state championship last Wednesday. Welch came up with a game-sealing interception with one minute to play on a 2-point conversion attempt.

For the second time in as many years, Welch and Acadiana were crowned champs.

After the victory, Welch broke down the latest in his recruitment, including notable pushes from Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and surging interest from LSU.
