Video Explores Why So Many 90s Kid Cartoons Featured Edgy Adult Comedians

The 90s was an interesting and wonderful era of cartoons. Batman: The Animated Series and Gargoyles are fan favorites, but there were a lot of other animated shows, many of which featured edgy adult comedians.

A lot of these comedians didn’t do kid-friendly comedy, but several of them ended up with their own kids shows, which is actually kind of fascinating to think about. These days most edgy comedians are getting vulgar, adult-themed animated shows that match up with their comedy.

We have a video here to share with you from Cracked that explores these cartoons and it came with the following note:

With the early 1990’s came the bizarre fad of famous stand-up comedians, who weren’t necessarily “kid friendly” getting greenlit for their very own Saturday morning cartoons. Comedians like Howie Mandel, John Candy, David Wayne, and the now kinda-problematic... Roseanne Barr and Bill Cosby. We're talking Camp Candy, Bobby's World, Little Rosey, Waynehead, Life with Louie, The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley and a ton more shows that make us go wait a minute... whaaaaat?

Like many of you, I grew up enjoying these cartoons. Times have certainly changed.
