Annette Trailer: Adam Driver & Marion Cotillard star in musical drama film


The official trailer for French filmmaker Leos Carax’s English directorial debut film titled Annette has been , starring Oscar nominee Adam Driver and Oscar winner Marion Cotillard. The video features our first look at Driver and Cotillard’s characters, providing us a glimpse of the different stages of their relationship from the beginning of their romance to their married life as well as the life-changing arrival of their titular daughter. This first trailer comes after it was recently announced that the upcoming musical drama film will be making its world premiere on July 6 at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival as its opening film. As for its theatrical release, Amazon Studios will be releasing the film this late summer in theaters and on Amazon Prime Video.



Set in contemporary Los Angeles, Annette stars Henry as a stand-up comedian with a fierce sense of humor who falls in love with Ann, a world-renowned opera singer. Under the spotlight, they form a passionate and glamorous couple. With the birth of their first child, Annette, a mysterious little girl with an exceptional destiny, their lives are turned upside down.


The film will be led by Adam Driver (Marriage Story) and Marion Cotillard (La Vie en Rose), who are also expected to do their own singing in the film. They will be joined by The Big Bang Theory alum Simon Helberg and Belgian singer-songwriter Angèle in her acting debut.



Annette is directed by Leos Carax from a screenplay written by Ron and Russell Mael of Sparks. The film will also feature songs by U.S. rock band Sparks and celebrated music producer Marius de Vries, who worked on La La Land, Bohemian Rhapsody and Moulin Rouge. It is produced by Charles Gillibert and Paul-Dominique Win Vacharasinthu.


This project marks Carax’s first feature-length film in nearly nine years after 2012’s French fantasy drama Holy Motors which also debuted in the Cannes Film Festival.
