The fact remains that it is still , and there are always many factors that come into play as to . The choice could be due to financial reasons, lack of support, medical reasons, or any other reason. However, it turns out that the has given women another valid reason to terminate their pregnancy, and it was proven by a recent study.

According to  and , a new study is showing a link between the current virus and the rates of abortion. The study found that 8% of all abortions were influenced by the current pandemic, and it is showing just how much this pandemic is affecting the lives of everyone.

The study group looked at approximately 2,000 women who had an abortion in Japan between October 15th, 2020 and November 14th, 2020. According to the results, 152 of the women stated that their decision was impacted by the pandemic.

Many of the women in the study cited that it was due to financial reasons, such as a drop in the income their partner was bringing in, which could have been impacted by the pandemic as well.

Of the 152 women who cited the pandemic, they were pulled aside and asked additional questions. They were asked to give three reasons for why they had an abortion.

•87 of the women stated it was due to a partner losing their income

•74 stated that their own income dropped

•42 of the women said that they were worried about contracting the virus while pregnant

Being  during a pandemic is not an easy thing, both physically and mentally.

The study group also said that these 152 women would have continued with their pregnancy if they had the resources and support to do so. This may indicate that more support is needed for women who are pregnant. These resources could be the difference between a woman keeping her baby or choosing to have an abortion.

It has also called for experts to make sure they are watching low-income families since it has been made clear that the pandemic has already been affecting them more than others.
