Has anyone in the US had any experience with ordering items that are only available on the NL site?

I am interested in a bed that was discontinued here in the states. I came across this info on their site and am wondering if it's only limited to countries where there is no ikea store.

I know that regardless it will be a very expensive endeavor, but I was wondering if it's even possible to be done.
