Arsenal news round-up: Norway midfielder on radar, €9m Thilo Kehrer bid, Ajax keeper could arrive

thinking about securing services of Sheffield United No.8

Arsenal and Everton are reportedly among a group of sides considering whether or not to trigger Sander Berge’s release clause this summer.

The north Londoners are staring down the barrel of a first campaign without European football since 1995/96 after this week’s tame Europa League exit against Villarreal, but are still hoping to invest heavily in new stars this summer.

After thousands of fans protested against the club’s ownership following their failed attempts to join a breakaway Super League in April, Josh Kroenke said he and his father Stan, the majority shareholder, remained totally committed to Arsenal.

Arsenal, too, are believed to retain faith in in spite of him presiding over a woeful season that culminated in Thursday night’s stalemate which saw his compatriot Unai Emery make a triumphant return to the Emirates Stadium.

With Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi heading for the exit door and playmaker Dani returning to Real Madrid following a disappointing loan stint, Arteta will be desperate to strengthen his midfield and find a perfect partner for .

Sander has impressed for the Blades since his transfer from Genk 18 months ago and is known to Mikel’s assistant, Albert Stuivenberg, who worked with Berge at the Belgian club.

According to Sky Sports News, the will now consider making an offer for a player whose buy-out clause has been lowered to £35 million from £45 million following confirmation of the Yorkshire club’s relegation.

Arsenal submit surprise offer for Paris Saint-Germain misfit

Arsenal have lodged a bid of €9 million for Paris Saint-Germain star Thilo Kehrer, with the French side keen on offloading the defender in the summer, according to a recent report from Paris Fans.

Kehrer has been with the Parisians since 2018, having signed from Schalke in a deal worth €37 million.

A highly-rated full-back at the time, the 24-year-old star has failed to kick on as expected, even though Thilo was a regular feature in the backline for the Ligue 1 champions in his debut season.

Till date, Kehrer has managed 92 appearances for his team, scoring and assisting two goals apiece. Kehrer is a versatile player who can play at centre-half as well as right-back.

However, the Germany international has been behind the likes of Colin Dagba, Marquinhos, Alessandro Florenzi and Presnel Kimpembe behind the pecking order in the ongoing season and, as per the report, the board are now contemplating a sale this summer.

Alerted by the situation, are said to have made an approach for the 24-year-old star and have made a lowly, almost derisory offer of just €9 million, even though Thilo still has two years left on his existing contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

Arsenal eager to strike £7m deal to land former Barcelona teen

Arsenal are considering a swoop for goalkeeper Andre Onana amid speculation about Bernd Leno’s future.

The Gunners are prepared to address their goalkeeping situation again in the summer and Onana has emerged as a target.

The Gunners were first interested in a move in the player ahead of the January transfer window when the club were looking to strengthen the position.

Alex Runarsson had failed to make an impression after his arrival at the club and Gunners senior members recognised they needed a better replacement for Emiliano Martinez.

The 25-year-old Andre fit the bill but funds weren’t available to seal the signing, with Arsenal loaning Mat Ryan instead.

However, they are keen on resurrecting that interest again, according to Goal, with a summer deal set to cost around £7 million.

A decision on whether Arsenal will attempt to land him will be postponed until June, though, with the star currently serving a one-year suspension.

He s appealing a doping ban after Onana was found to have banned substance Furosemide in a urine sample.

He claims he failed the out-of-competition doping test because he mistakenly took medicine prescribed to his wife.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will hear the former Barcelona ace’s appeal in June, with the verdict due the same month.

Andre’s lawyers are confident the ban will be reduced to just eight months and that could pave the way for a transfer to the Emirates.
