Is SysVInit becoming slowly obsolete in favor of systemd?

KDE has already moved its power management features (shut down, restart, suspend, hibernate...) to Elogind, a systemd "module"...

To use Plasma on Gentoo or Funtoo with OpenRC (which uses SysVInit), the user must install this elogind daemon otherwise the aforementioned power management features will be missing... (hit this one myself yesterday...)..

So, with more and more distros migrating from the classic SysVInit to systemd, will the former eventually become completely obsolete, with no more DEs supporting it and relying on the latter for everything?
