Walker Review – Encore (1×10)
Walker and Micki’s past came back to haunt them on Walker Season 1 Episode 10.
Micki’s past included a case that she wasn’t able to solve back in the day due to a jerk of a boss.
She was so focused on finally nabbing Minnie Jayne that she ignored all the facts that the legendary local singer was not the culprit behind the stolen instruments… this time.
The case was a little weak if I’m being honest. There was no reason to care about Minnie (even though she was fairly cool and agreed to hit the stage for the reopening of the Side Step), nor did we know enough about Micki’s past life to understand her desire to prove herself in this particular situation.
Though, I’ll admit that I enjoyed seeing Cordell completely fangirl over Minnie.
Walker didn’t even know his past was going to be impacting his future since Stella didn’t clue him in on the fact that Trevor is Clint West’s son.
In case you forgot, Walker went undercover as Duke and arrested Clint. Clint blamed him for breaking up his family and killing his wife.
Since Trevor went missing after the dance, Stella attempted to find him by connecting with his dad.
As you imagine, that didn’t go over very well.
Clint blames Duke for the way his life turned out, but the honest truth is that he’s solely responsible for his own situation. He’s the one who broke the law time and time again, which landed him behind bars.
And he continues to lead this lifestyle as he set up Stella, and she fell right into his little trap.
When she sought out Trevor’s hiding spot, Clint’s men followed her.
The fact that Clint would send men to rough up his son is exactly why Trevor needed to distance himself.
His father is a bad man, and he realized that which is why he decided not to put Stella in any more danger.
Obviously, the smart thing would be to tell Walker all about it, but instead, they ran away. It always seems like a good plan when you’re young and in love, but it’s definitely dangerous considering how powerful Clint is.
Stella may think she’s tough, but she has no idea who she’s messing with.
How will Walker remedy the situation? He obviously doesn’t want his daughter to pay the price for his mistakes.
Should she have told him the truth about Trevor sooner?
Will Stella and Trevor find a way to be together despite the drama between their dads?
In addition to reopening the Side Step and helping Micki with the case, Cordell couldn’t forget about the kiss he shared with Geri.
I’m shipping this relationship because well, it happens.
They suffered a loss, grieved it, and found comfort in each other.
However, the fact that Hoyt is being released from prison and coming home doesn’t bode well for their relationship.
It definitely seems like the Geri and Hoyt ship has sailed. But since Geri was Emily’s best friend, will the family object to a relationship between her and Walker?
Other Thoughts
- Liam decided to run for DA. Good for him! The town needs a progressive voice, and that guy Stan was far from it.
- Trey’s traumatic brain injury is still getting the best of him, but at least he was honest with Micki about his recovery.
What did you think of the episode?
It wasn’t the strongest installment, but not all of them can be winners.
Still, I’m interested to see how things will pan out between Walker and Clint, who doesn’t seem to have a forgiving bone in his body!
