Roberson described Jewell and LaFleur's upcoming case and the potential murder suspects. He suggests the investigators are in store for more than they initially bargained for.

Sarah Jewell and her travelling companion Marie-Thérèse LaFleur are invited by Sarah's childhood friend Lilian Makepeace Whelstone to a secluded island off the coast of Washington state. Lilian's husband has recently died, and a number of guests have come to bid on items from his extensive collection of occult artifacts. But the lawyer who was to conduct the auction is found murdered in the night, and any one of the guests might be the killer. Could it be the bickering couple who are seldom seen without a drink in hand, Reginald McKerrell and Marion Loveland? Or could it be Doctor John Caliban, a mysterious figure from Harlem? Or the man known only as Mr. Huang, who has recently arrived from San Francisco? Or Madame Saito, who has travelled all the way from Japan to attend the auction? Sarah and Marie-Thérèse soon discover that there are even greater dangers lurking in the shadows of the sprawling mansion…

In this story, I like the rainy, stormy setting, the sprawling mansion, and the tension between scared characters at odds with each other. I also love Sarah and Marie Thérèse and their deep friendship with one another. I've been a long-time fan of Hellboy comics so it's been a delightful experience exploring this world with these characters.

The House of Lost Horizons: A Sarah Jewell Mystery is already setting up to be quite the murder mystery, with plenty of twists and occult elements - it will be fascinating to see what other nods to the Hellboy universe will show up in the series. Can Jewell and LaFleur figure out who's causing the murders in the mansion before it's too late? Readers will find out when The House of Lost Horizons: A Sarah Jewell Mystery #1 by Mike Mignola, Chris Roberson, Leila del Duca, and Michelle Madsen comes to comic book stores on May 12, 2021. The miniseries will run for five issues
