The Top 4 Best Pillows: Sleep Better Now!
With all the pillow technology out there these days, what are the best pillows for you to choose from? A good pillow is probably the most important thing to have for a restful sleep. Most tossing and turning can be blamed on choosing the wrong pillow! Since most people are side or lateral sleepers, head position during sleep is important to prevent neck pain, shoulder pain, and even snoring! And that’s where the right pillow makes the difference!
is a relatively new entry in the market, and their pillows were specifically designed for side sleepers. Before you buy one, the company shows you how to measure yourself to choose the right pillow thickness. They recommend lying on your side and stacking books beneath your head until your neck is straight and your spine is aligned. Most people fall into the 4, 5 or 6 inch category. There are 2 pillow sizes, the smaller Pillowcube classic and the Pillowcube Pro, which is the size of a traditional pillow.
The Pillowcube is made from a proprietary “Comfort Carbon Core” foam which stays cool and provides just the right amount of cushioning for your head. A lot of people complain about “hot” pillows, constantly turning them over during the night to get to the cool side. No need with the Pillowcube!
I personally own both the classic and the pro and have convinced several friends to get them! We’re all sleeping better. The Pillowcube Pro has worked to eliminate my neck and shoulder pain (I use the 6 inch dimension) and has drastically reduced my snoring. Of all the pillows tested, the Pillowcube is the best of the best pillows!
2. The Purple Pillow
The is number two on the Best Pillows list because the company also takes into account the fact that shoulder sizes are different, just like Pillowcube. There are 3 choices: Low, Medium, and Tall pillow heights.
The Purple Harmony Pillow features a layer of honeycomb-patterned Purple Grid® Hex surrounding a supportive inner core of hypoallergenic ventilated latex. This system keeps the pillow cool and maintains its shape.
I found the Purple pillow less comfortable than the Pillowcube, and it doesn’t stay as cool, but it is nice. Also, it does have latex, which might be a problem for people who are allergic.
3. Boll & Branch Pillows
offers Down and Down-alternative pillows that are high end and is my choice for the third of the Best Pillows. Down is the layer of fine feathers under the more recognizable, coarse feathers on a bird and tends to be soft and relatively cool. Many people are allergic to down, but if you’re not, down pillows can be a good choice. For many years they were the gold standard for pillow comfort.
The Boll & Branch Down Pillow has a 3 layer design, with the inner core filled with down AND feathers for stability, and the outer two with soft down. The pillow is also covered with a dense organic cotton shell which keeps the down from escaping. In my experience, though, down pillows are too soft and lack a significant amount of support like the Pillowcube or Purple pillows. If you like soft, the Bull & Branch Down Pillow will be on the top of your best pillows list.
Boll & Branch also make down pillow alternatives using Primaloft synthetic fibers which feels like down.
4. Casper Foam Pillows
Remember, these are the 4 Best Pillows we’re reviewing, so being number four isn’t bad considering how many pillow companies are out there! makes several pillow types, and my favorite of theirs is the foam pillow. It is firmer than their “original” or their down pillow if you get the Mid-Loft version and it aligns your neck and spine well.
The main negative is that the Casper Foam Pillow doesn’t stay as cool as the Pillowcube or purple pillow, which is a why the it is number 4.
