Screen Producers Aus: Ones to Watch 2021

Screen Producers Australia have announced their annual Ones to Watch, a showcase of 12 emerging producers.

Each will be mentored with an established producer and attend the Screen Forever conference in 2022.

“Since 2013, over 140 producers from every state and territory in the nation have taken part in the Ones to Watch program to expand their skillsets and build their professional networks,” said SPA CEO Matthew Deaner.

“I continue to be impressed by the diversity and richness of applications we receive, with many of the program’s alumni going on to work for some of our most prolific members, helping to shape the future of Australian screen content on the world stage.

“I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank our program partners for their continued support, and to wish the Ones to Watch luck as they embark on the next stage of their creative careers. I look forward to meeting you all at Screen Forever on the Gold Coast in just a few months.”

From championing underrepresented voices, to telling stories that help with healing, to producing off-beat female-driven and LGBTQI+ narratives, and creating explorative content that challenges the status quo, the twelve producers from across Australia encompass what it means to be an Australian storyteller in 2021.

Over the coming months, the Ones to Watch will be matched with a leading Australian producer for 1-on-1 mentoring and will take part in an exclusive webinar series to develop their creative slate and business skills in the lead up to Screen Forever. Each participant will also be given the opportunity to apply for a $10,000 Screen Internship, supported by Screen Australia.

The twelve producers selected for this year’s program are:

• Brooke Collard, Goguljar Yok (WA)

• David Holroyd, Ghostrider Films (WA)

• Georgia Humphreys, Corner Table Productions Australia (SA)
