CBS’ FBI: International: Premiere Date, Cast, First Look & More

CBS’ 2021-2022 television season is looking to be one chock full of franchise expansions and crime drama procedurals – and we are absolutely here for it. Alongside and , the network is adding yet another spin-off to one of its beloved franchises, FBI.


FBI: International is the second spin-off – and third installment overall – in the FBI series franchise.


Speculations of the project first came in January 2020 when the franchise creator, Dick Wolf, said he had always envisioned FBI as a whole universe in itself as it had an “endless trove of stories”.


A few months later, CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl that they “…[couldn’t] rule anything out.”


In March 2021, amidst series renewals for both the original FBI and its first spin-off FBI: Most Wanted, CBS gave an .


Not only that, but the creators confirmed that the series would debut with a backdoor pilot during a crossover event between its two predecessors!


Now scheduled to premiere on September 21, 2021, here’s everything we know so far about CBS’ FBI: International!


Who’s in charge of the show?


The FBI franchise is Wolf’s third (after Law & Order and the One Chicago franchise), and it’s looking to be just as successful as his first two.


Derek Haas, who has worked with Wolf on the Chicago series, has been attached as showrunner.


Wolf, Haas, Rick Eid, Peter Jankowski, and Arthur Forney are executive producing under the Wolf Entertainment banner and Universal Television, in association with CBS Studios.


What’s FBI: International going to be about?


Where FBI was headquartered in New York and Most Wanted is centered on the bureau’s Fugitive Task Force, FBI: International is taking its viewers to follow the elite operatives of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s International Fly Team.


Here’s the : “Headquartered in Budapest, they travel the world with the mission of tracking and neutralizing threats against American citizens wherever they may be. Not allowed to carry guns, the Fly Team relies on intelligence, quick thinking, and pure brawn as they put their lives on the line to protect the U.S. and its people.”


Who are we going to see?


just this past July, starting with Luke Klientank (The Man in the High Castle), Heida Reed (Poldark), and Vinessa Vidotto (Lucifer).


Kleintank is slated to play Scott Forrester, the dedicated leader of the International Fly Team. He’s also the owner of the team’s “secret weapon” – their protection dog, Tank. Meanwhile, Reed will play Jamie Kellet, his tough and resourceful second-in-command. And Vidotto will play Cameron Vo, a fellow team member and graduate of West Point Academy, described as “eager and ambitious” and specializing in interrogation and strategy.


A few weeks later, German actress Christiane Paul (Paranoid, Counterpart) and Carter Redwood (5th Ward) were also of FBI: International.


Redwood will play Andre Raines, who has a background in tracking financial movement in criminal enterprises. Lastly, Paul rounds out the team as Katrin Jaeger, a Europol agent whose multilingual proficiency makes her integral as the connection between the team and the law enforcement agencies on the ground of each host country.


Catch the series premiere of FBI: International on September 21 which will air as part of a 3-way crossover event between FBI, FBI: Most Wanted, and FBI: International.



The crossover will see members of the three teams come together to that turns into a manhunt of a leader of a far-reaching criminal enterprise who escaped to Zagreb with a 14-year-old girl.
