The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XXXII Images Tease Parasite Parody

' upcoming Treehouse of Horror episode will have a parody of . The animated sitcom has just begun airing its milestone season 33, becoming the longest scripted primetime television show in history. Since its debut in 1989, , pushing the boundaries of humor and cementing its status as an all-time classic series. One of their most famous traditions each season is their annual Halloween specials featuring anthology stories consisting of various horror elements with the show's style of humor.
Parasite is a Korean dark comedy thriller directed by Bong Joon-ho, about a poor family who infiltrates a wealthy family by posing as qualified servants and teachers, before stumbling upon a shocking and unexpected discovery with one of the other house workers. It became the first foreign language film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture, while also winning Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film. Since its victory, Bong Joon-ho has been working on with Adam McKay, also titled Parasite, that is based on stories happening between the film.
It has now been revealed through that the upcoming Treehouse of Horror episode from The Simpsons will have segment paying homage to Parasite, with the Simpson family posing as the poor family. This will also be the first time that the special will have five stories in its episode, rather than the standard three, and will also feature segments referencing Edgar Allan Poe, Bambi, and A Nightmare on Elm Street. The Simpsons has long paid tribute to numerous films and has previously parodied off of multiple classic horror movies in their Treehouse of Horror episodes. These include , Return of the Living Dead, and Bram Stoker's Dracula. While Parasite is not specifically condensed into the horror genre, its thriller elements integrated with the unknown suspense and dark comedy fits perfectly with The Simpsons' wheelhouse, similar to 2001: A Space Odyssey, which the show has also parodied in the past.
As with many popular and long-running comedies, the series has generated countless iconic moments throughout its time on air, and continues to pull in impressive ratings across all platforms, still raking in millions of viewers with each new episode. Even though many changes have been made to The Simpsons both in front of and behind the camera since it first aired, their every Halloween are still beloved in fans' minds. Fans can look forward to their take on Parasite when The Simpsons airs its 32nd Treehouse of Horror special on October 10.
