Wonder Woman's Most Iconic Costumes Assemble in 80th Anniversary Art

DC's is celebrating her 80th anniversary and she's doing it in style. The Goddess of Truth has had numerous outfits not just in comic canon, but also in Elseworlds and multiverse stories. These iconic iterations are now being celebrated in new pin-up art.
Wonder Woman was first created in 1941 by Dr. William Moulton Marston and H. G. Peter, as many fans know. She's since been through 80 years of heroic adventures and she's been celebrating in big ways. She will be inducted into the and her associated family is showing up in several new comic projects this year, including her mother, Hippolyta, and her sister, Nubia. Now, her official anniversary special has debuted and with it, wonderful new art.
Wonder Woman 80th Anniversary 100-page Super Spectacular #1 features multiple comic creators telling stories inspired by Diana's many eras of heroism. It also features beautiful pin-ups of the character throughout the issue. One, in particular, is very eye-catching. This piece, titled Wonder Women of the Multiverse, was created by Nicola Scott and Annette Kwok. It showcases versions of and other multiverses, such as Earth-2.

These Wonder Women - in order from left to right - come from Earth-2, Amazonia, Red Son, Kingdom Come, Flashpoint, DC Bombshells, Earth One, Dark Knight Returns, Injustice, and The New Frontier. Wonder Woman's usual costumes are well-known, but her alternate variations are no less amazing. Earth-2 was a series within DC's New 52, featuring Wonder Woman in a much more armored look. Wonder Woman: Amazonia from 1997 placed the heroine in a Victorian-era steampunk-inspired world complete with a curl-accented updo. Red Son may be one of , but it comes with a new, edgy look for Wonder Woman as well. This artwork also features one of the Goddess of Truth's iconic looks from Kingdom Come, though maybe not the one fans would have expected as the Golden Eagle armor is highly popular.
Following those iterations is Wonder Woman from Flashpoint, the iconic 2011 arc that led into DC's launch of the New 52 and pitted the Goddess of Truth against Aquaman in a large-scale war. Next up is DC Comic Bombshells, which began as a figure line that expanded into a comic series. This look is easily recognizable due to its 1940s retro inspiration. That look is followed up by her persona from by Grant Morrison, Yanick Paquette, Todd Klein, and Nathan Fairbairn. This look throws back to her origins as a character, as the story also did.

The Lasso of Truth returns with the next Wonder Woman who starred in the 1986 miniseries Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller. This outfit pairs her armored crop top with shorts similar to her original skirt. Wonder Woman's outfit significantly shifts up for Injustice, which is one of the few main outfits that features a pair of pants instead of shorts or a skirt. Last in this lineup is series' version of Wonder Woman, which threw back to DC's Golden and Silver Ages.
Scott and Kwok's art for this anniversary special captures the breadth of adventures the heroine has had, pairing beautifully with the showcase of stories inspired by her past. This pin-up is absolutely one of the best that has been released to commemorate Wonder Woman's impressive milestone.
