- Urban Meyer held a full team meeting with the Jaguars players on Wednesday morning after several days of drama-filled news stories
- Here’s what Urban Meyer had to say to his players and what he apologized for as he addressed them directly and as a group instead of as individuals
Nobody in the NFL world has had a longer week than Urban Meyer. People were calling for the Jacksonville Jaguars head coach to be fired less than 24 hours ago. But it seems like the sun if finally poking through the clouds and there’s a blue sky on the horizon.
Urban Meyer held a full team meeting on Wednesday morning where he addressed all of the Jacksonville Jaguars players directly. Previously, he’d only spoken to position groups individually. And this is all in the aftermath of Urban leaving the team behind to stay in Cleveland which of course led to the now infamous lap dance video.
If you haven’t seen the Urban Meyer video yet, we of . Urban’s wife was on social media her husband. Jaguars players were reportedly behind his back.
But now there’s been a full team meeting and apology and this is what Urban had to say to the Jags.
Ian Rapoport had this to say about Urban’s comments:
“Meyer was, from what I understand, honest and pretty forthright. He expressed remorse and asked for forgiveness from his team. He basically took responsibility for what he did. He told his team he believed in them and loved them and said he cares about two things, really — football and family. He says he embarrassed them both.”
Of course, this story seems to change by the hour since it first broke. I fully expect some alternate perspectives of Urban’s apology and the full-team meeting to come out as the day progresses.
Twitter is still laughing pretty hard at the situation.
This is certainly going to be a story that follows Urban Meyer for a long time. I wouldn’t put it past opposing fans to hold up some pretty interesting signs for Urban to see on the road this season.
