Australian football must get creative to revitalise game: Moore

Adelaide United Director of football Bruce Djite says the A-League would like the current season completed by the end of August.

Now living in Croatia, the former talismanic striker claims football's leadership in Australia has overseen a grave decline in talent development. Broadcasters have not been getting "bang for their buck" from Australian football in recent years and creative solutions are urgently needed to revitalise the game, former Socceroos defender Craig Moore has said.
Moore, who is spearheading the "Golden Generation" group pressing for change in Australian football, said the coronavirus pandemic had heaped more pressure on administrators already battling to reverse declines in ratings and crowds.

Asian Cup: Defending champ Australia, South Korea see early exits

Defending champions Australia crashed out of the Asian Cup on Friday when a contentious Ali Mabkhout goal earned hosts the United Arab Emirates a 1-0 victory and a semifinal meeting with Qatar next week.
Mabkhout struck midway through the second half after Milos Degenek under-hit a pass back to Mat Ryan, and the Al Jazira man swooped to round the goalkeeper and slot the ball into an empty net for his ninth goal in two Asian Cups.
The Australians complained Degenek had been fouled prior to giving...

It was a tired performance from the Taeguk Warriors and a tired performance from the team's talisman as he admitted after the game.
"I wasn't properly prepared. I was physically drained," Son, who had previously...

Australia eased to victory over South Korea to move a step closer to Cup of Nations glory.
Sam Kerr nabbed her first goals as Australian captain and Lisa De Vanna erased any doubts about her worth to the Matildas in Sunday night's 4-1 defeat of South Korea.
The Matildas are set to win the Cup of Nations after a second morale-boosting result of Ante Milicic's tenure, sealed by a super strike by Emily Gielnik.
In Brisbane, pace was the difference. Kerr stole in front of Korean defenders twice in the first half, winning a penalty for an early opener before racing onto a poor backpass to...
